While Event #32, the $5,000 NL Holdem 6-max event kept rolling in, 12 players survived the day. Erick Lindgren finished 2nd in chips. The initial starting field of the poker tournament was mostly involved of “name” pros due to the high buy-in. Matt Graham, Tony Dunst, David Ulliott, and Ryan D’Angelo all made the money in this event. Final day in event #33, the $2,500 PL Holdem/Omaha event, and 14 players survived to the end. Phil Ivey was amongst those who would return to battle it out for the bracelet; big thing about this poker tournament. He spent the day playing in 3 events simultaneously and managed to 9th in chips which is quite impressive.
Erick won a $350,000 prop bet through Gavin Smith, Phil Ivey and others on June 27, 2007. Part of Full Tilt’s series of large buy-in tournaments Lindgren hosted “FTOPS Event #9″, in February 2008. The tournament had a prize pool of over $1.65 million and had over 5,600 entrants. Lindgren took home over $291,000 and won the tournament becoming the first Full Tilt Poker pro to win an FTOPS event that they hosted.

While Laura Lane is on vacation, Bernard Lee takes hold of the Las Vegas event together with ESPN Poker Editor Andrew Feldman. The news that was featured in ESPN.com is casted by PokerStars sponsored player, Barry Greenstein.
Going to the Phil Ivey issue of heading the leaderboard, Greenstein commented, “I haven’t even talked to Phil about it. I would guess he would play. What he was probably concerned about was the way they had it set up initially, it was going to conflict with him playing in events and he has a bunch of side bets.”
Other things that headed recently on the ESPN “Poker Edge” podcast Phil Gordon who speak to Feldman and listeners, “I heard that Phil Ivey is not even going to play. I was told that because there is a bracelet event the same day as the TOC, Phil isn’t going to play the TOC… You might be seeing Ivey running back and forth from the TV table.”
Speaking of WSOP Tournament of Champions, there were 25 bracelets winners and the two qualifiers, as Greenstein commented, “Some people were complaining, ‘Hey, why didn’t we get some of the newer, younger players?’ This is really more like an all-star game and is based more on the career you put forward, so I’m happy that people consider me in the top 20 most popular players.” All in all, Greenstein gathered down 9,800 votes, on the other hand, Daniel Negreanu and Ivey settled with more than 16,000 votes.

Beginning on June 2nd at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Phil Laak will try to break the world record of 78 straight hours of playing poker. Presently, the title holder was Paul Zimbler. Furthermore, Laak is inviting challengers in his own online poker site Unabomber Poker to have a duel with him.
As the Poker News Daily sit down with Laak, they questioned about his attempt of breaking the record. His answer to that goes like this, “It’s like this: When I finished college, my friend and I bought motorcycles and wanted to travel to every state. We were going to touch the earth of every state. We did that until we got to 29 states and then things started falling apart. There is no feeling that beat the everyday sensation of driving on new roads. At first, I didn’t know why I was doing it, but later I had a huge sense of accomplishment.”
PND also asked about his resistance with the nearly 80 hours straight game, and he answered saying, It’s all about the body, mind, and spirit. When I knew I was going to do this, I had to get in shape. I put myself on a better diet and started exercising four to seven days per week. As far as the spirit goes, I cut out three things that are not good for my diet anyway: fried foods, cheese, and ice cream. Every time I see those foods, it takes great will power for me to resist them. I needed training on not getting what I want. My mantra for the challenge is, “In order to break, you must stay awake.”
Lastly, he tells PND on how challengers can join the faceoff in Las Vegas, he ended up saying, we’re giving people three chances to make history. We’ll be having a $50 buy-in tournament on May 27th at 6:00pm PT. The winner will head to Las Vegas and we’ll be refunding everyone’s buy-in, making the event basically free.
