Top 10 Money Makers in the WSOP of All Time

The WSOP has changed the life of a hundred and so and poker players making them stable for a lifetime with their winnings. Here is the list of the Top 10 money makers of all time in the WSOP and how they acquire such wealth.

1.Jamie Gold - $12,067,292

Jamie Gold won in the 2006 Main Event wherein the numbers of participants in the WSOP is an all time high. He also luckily got the highest paying 1st prize in the history of the WSOP and places him at the top of the money makers list. Gold also cashed in 3 other events aside from his major win.

Critics say that the number of the WSOP field will not again reach the field they had in 2006. This is due to the fact that a bill called the UIGEA was passed which prevented the European poker sites to enter the US market. It is an assumption that Gold will hold on to his title for a while till another individual on the top of this list will obtain a much larger sum through the Main Event.

2.Peter Eastgate - $9,152,416

He was the champion of the 2008 Main Event and the youngest player who have acquired the Main Event title in poker history. He also acquired the second biggest prize in the books of the WSOP and it was his first ever cash in the tournament.

Being 22 makes him the most possible candidate to get the crown from Gold in the near future.

3.Jerry Yang - $8,250,000

Yang was the winner of the 2007 WSOP Main Event and he’s also one of the players in this list who got their jackpot with only cash in the tournament.

Lots of players think that Yang’s improbable win will be his only huge success in the WSOP. But his lack in skill is covered up completely by his nice personality.

4.Joe Hachem - $7,941,823

Only a few good players have win the WSOP in the past few years and one of them would be Joe Hachem. He has 8 cashed in his name with 2 final tables which made him finished to 2nd and 4th place. He also won the WPT Five Diamond event in 2006 adding $2,000,000 dollars in his net earnings.

The year when Hachem won the Main Event is also the year when the Australian chant was introduced to the world singing, “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie…Oy, Oy, Oy!!!”

5.Allen Cunningham - $6,717,791

Allen Cunningham is the first person here on this list that did not win any Main Event even thought he got a large chunk of his earnings from the 2006 Main Event by finishing 4th. He is a long time professional at the age of 32 with 5 bracelets in his name and more than 40 cashes in the WSOP to date.

Cunningham is one of the better tournament players in the WSOP even though he’s not that famous like many names in the community.
6.Greg Raymer - $6,487,512

He is the first champion in the Main event wherein the field size of the WSOP has triple from the previous year. He beat more than 2,000 other players in order to get the $5,000,000 1st prize coveted by many.

Fossilman has proven time and time again that he is a good player. He already made 13 cashes in the WSOP including his big win counting 5 final tables and a 3rd place finish at the 2009 $40k NLHE event.

7.Ivan Demidov - $6,468,381

He is the first non-bracelet winner here but he made it to second place on the 2008 Main Event the very same year he finished third in the WSOP Europe Main Event. This Russian born poker pro is seen as one of the most promising poker stars in the near future.

8.Paul Wasicka - $6,192,711

He is most popular because of his talent in obtaining the largest brides-maid payday in the history of poker. Wasicka is a Full Tilt pro teaching at the Full Tilt Poker Academy. He has 3 other cashes in the WSOP and is also seen as one of the rising stars in the poker scene.

9.Phil Hellmuth - $6,054,988

Maybe Phil is dying now with the knowledge that he didn’t know most of the individuals included on this list. He already won 11 WSOP bracelets however his biggest pay so far in his career was a mere $755,000.

He already has 70 plus cashes in his names in the WSOP but unfortunate for him; he has not yet obtained a big payday like the other’s here in this list. He is the grinder on the all time money makers and he can still stay at the top 10 even without a million on his list of winnings.

10.Michael Binger -  $4,853,748

He’s another player who got here on the top 10 without any Main Event win. Binger just finished in 3rd place during the 2006 Main Event and has obtain at least 19 WSOP cashes in his poker career. He is also one of the most unidentified top notch players in the game.

Binger opts to play poker than to practice his PhD in Theoretical Physics. Poker gives more opportunity in terms of income compared to working on the laboratory. So we might see him for a long while.
