To Limp Or Not To Limp With Aces
Poker forums and websites have discussed this strategy on their pages and I’m sure you’ve already heard about it.
Look at this situation: You’re the first player to act now and you have a pair of aces as hole card. You decide to limp and call the blind hoping that someone will raise the bet for you.
After 9 players behind you, it is your turn again. If someone raise the bet for you, you can re-raise his bet and if you’re lucky you can take all the money from the pot before the flop against a lower pair of hole cards.
But what if four persons called after you limp your aces including the blinds? What’s the best thing that you should do?
Well if you want to save money then you should follow this strategy: If you’re still the first one to act again, then make a good enough bet. If you get a caller or more then you have a player raise and this is the time for you to fold your pocket aces. Yes, no matter how hard it is to fold this kind of pocket cards you have to.
Even if th flop displays all rags it won’t be good for you if you didn’t fold. You only invested a small amount of money and you shouldn’t regret folding because if you didn’t then you have to face a big risk losing more money.
You don’t have to gamble your money now because there’s a bigger chance that your opponents have hit a set, made two pairs or waiting for a good draw to get a full set.
And it wouldn’t be good too even if the other players only have an open ended straight draw with a chance to have a flush set, its not worth it if you still gamble.
When you’re face with this kind of situation, don’t be too risky. Remember that there are more hands to play with and you only need to be more patient and save your money to fight for another round.
