Results from the NAPT at the Mohegan Sun helped three players move closer to replacing Mizzi as the World Series of Poker moves closer to reality. Player of the Year points made by Jason Mercier and Vanessa Selbst in their success at the NAPT Mohegan Sun last year was divided, but both more than made up that difference, becoming two-time champions in the Main Event and High Roller Bounty Shootout respectively to move into second and fourth place in the standings.
Eugene Katchalov climbed into third place after finishing 2nd to Mercier in the High Roller Bounty Shootout. Eric Baldwin, second in the Power Rankings for several weeks, moves three spots to fifth after his results from his Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza Main Event win in 2009 and last year’s WPT Championship second place adjusted his total downwards.
Thomas Marchese made the highest uphill movement in the Power Rankings, leaping five spots to sixth place after his final table at WPT Hollywood (Indiana). 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel moves past Fernando Brito to take seventh place as Dwyte Pilgrim and David Peters complete the top ten.

The list has been cut short to 15 players in Event #41 $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better. Thirteen should be very vexed, nonetheless though they are going for their first WSOP bracelet. And it would be more than once for the two of them ? Barry Greenstein and Ultimate Bet Poker Phil Hellmuth are still on the hunt to add to their bracelet collection.
Although this most likely goes without saying, since he says it so much himself, Hellmuth has the most bracelets in WSOP history, but with this week’s win by Phil Ivey, many are speculating if that record will soon be broken. Hellmuth nabbed bracelet number 11 in 2007 and, given that he will head into Day 3 fourth in chips with a stack of 331,000, could very well pick up number 12.
Hellmuth was born in Madison, Wisconsin where he attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison for three years prior dropping out to play poker full time. He is also a part of the Poker Hall of Fame.

While Laura Lane is on vacation, Bernard Lee takes hold of the Las Vegas event together with ESPN Poker Editor Andrew Feldman. The news that was featured in ESPN.com is casted by PokerStars sponsored player, Barry Greenstein.
Going to the Phil Ivey issue of heading the leaderboard, Greenstein commented, “I haven’t even talked to Phil about it. I would guess he would play. What he was probably concerned about was the way they had it set up initially, it was going to conflict with him playing in events and he has a bunch of side bets.”
Other things that headed recently on the ESPN “Poker Edge” podcast Phil Gordon who speak to Feldman and listeners, “I heard that Phil Ivey is not even going to play. I was told that because there is a bracelet event the same day as the TOC, Phil isn’t going to play the TOC… You might be seeing Ivey running back and forth from the TV table.”
Speaking of WSOP Tournament of Champions, there were 25 bracelets winners and the two qualifiers, as Greenstein commented, “Some people were complaining, ‘Hey, why didn’t we get some of the newer, younger players?’ This is really more like an all-star game and is based more on the career you put forward, so I’m happy that people consider me in the top 20 most popular players.” All in all, Greenstein gathered down 9,800 votes, on the other hand, Daniel Negreanu and Ivey settled with more than 16,000 votes.
